The Big Show
Hey everyone! Sorry I haven't posted in a couple of days but I've had a lot to do in getting ready for my Senior Portfolio Show. It was a wonderful show and there was some really great artists showing some really beautiful artwork. The only problem I had with the show was that there wasn't any illustrators there to give me any good feedback. The only professionals present were involved with big design firms that didn't give me or my work a chance. But that's the way it goes.
This was the setup of my booth in the art building. It doesn't look like much and it isn't. I don't have a large professional portfolio but I believe in quality over quantity. It was a really fun show and I feel like I had some strong pieces.
Some of my friends looking at my sketchbook. I had to chase it down a few times that night because apparently everyone looked at it more than my actual pieces! I don't blame them because I like my sketchbook far more than my portfolio work.. It is the central piece of my portfolio.
Two of my greatest friends looking at my artwork. I really appreciated everyone that came by and took the time to look at my stuff.
The illustrious and illustrative Boone Sommerfeld. Us two had a huge crowd in our corner of the room that night. Could it be that we are cousins and incredibly good looking? Or are we just two artists trying to make it in this world? I prefer to think both sometimes. Sorry for sounding arrogant. There are far better artists out there than me.
The great Leslye. She had a beautiful booth which included a book that she illustrated! She is so magnificent!
The one and only, Professor Neil Ward. He looks young and is young but don't let that fool you. This chap knows his shit. One of the best animators I've seen.

Sketchbook Entries
Prismacolor Pen and Gray Brushpen.

Ballpoint Pen
I usually draw about four to five hours a day in my sketchbook. So I decided to put up some stuff that I have been scribbling down for the past few weeks. I've gotten into drawing with a ballpoint pen because of how fast it is. I love being able to shade like a pencil! Sadly this sketchbook (which is a Moleskine by the way) is about to be filled up and retired for a new one (which will also be a Moleskine). I will be posting up some more stuff later on but right now I'm in a hurry and only put up these few pages. Enjoi! Oh by the way, you can click on any image of my artwork to be able to view it in a larger size. Since most of my art is detailed it would be wise to view it larger to really appreciate it.

See the Light I'm Seeing
>Sumi Ink, Acrylic, CS3 on Illustration Board. 7" x 10"<
Hey guys. I did this piece for my senior portfolio and my promotional piece. I printed this out postcard size with my information so I can hand them out to friends and potential employers. But since I didn't have the greatest of printing capabilities at the time they turned out rather dull in their color. But anyway, I was pleased with how the original piece turned out. Enjoy!
The Polite Winter
If you don't know who James Jean and Kenichi Hoshine is then you really need to check out the link I just put up. It's a conversation over a period of time between these two stellar artists using their artwork and styles to tell a story. Its not entirely new and hasn't been updated for a while but what is on there now is incredibly beautiful and inspiring for a mere sketcher like myself. Please look at it and enjoy. Feel free to post up some comments and tell me what you think!
ps- I will soon be putting up some sketches that I have been working on these past couple of weeks. Stay tuned!

The Great Heron
I did this piece for my Illustration II class and is one of my favorites that I have produced this year. It was my first time working with a dip pen and nib but as you can see it turned out nicely. I am a changed man when it comes to ink and I recommend the nib pen to anyone interested in ink. The variations of line thickness the pen is capable of is incredible.
Finally!
Hey all! So I finally decided to create a blog so that I can keep you updated with my artwork and life. Hopefully soon I will have a nice long entry accompanied with some artwork/sketches. But right now it's three in the morning and I'm tired.
